OUR AUGUST GENERAL MEETING:
"THE PRIVATIZATION OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS"
Our August 22 General Meeting, "The Privatization of Public Schools", was a terrific success. We thank our moderator, High School Teacher and former Congressional Candidate Marcy Winograd, and our esteemed panel: LAUSD Vice-Chair Steve Zimmer, UTLA/NEA Vice President MJ Roberts, Crossroads School Founder Paul Cummins, Former Principal Marcia Haskin, Middle School Teacher Loren Scott and LAUSD Parent Sara Roos for engaging in the round table discussion. Questions such as reconstitution, teacher evaluations, parent trigger, and classroom size were addressed, but it was clear that we will need another meeting to be able to delve much deeper into the issues discussed.
For a good recap of some of the hightlights of the meeting, see Bill Raden's article in Frying Pan News.
